Souvenez-vous l’été dernier… Une altercation virile avait opposé, à l’eau, Ricardo dos Santos (Bré) à Jamie O’Brien (Haw), en pleine série des trials du Billabong Pro Tahiti. Des coups de poing avaient été donnés (échangés ?), les versions des deux surfeurs différant ensuite sensiblement quant au déroulement des faits. Ou les fameux « c’est pas moi, c’est lui qui a commencé » et « hé m’sieur, il m’a frappé », en vogue depuis la nuit des temps dans les cours de récré.
Quasiment deux mois après cet épisode navrant, Jamie O’Brien a confirmé, via une interview accordée au site STAB, avoir été suspendu de toute compétition ASP jusqu’à la fin de l’année en plus d’avoir été sanctionné financièrement. L’Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) n’a, elle, toujours pas communiqué sur le sujet.
L’Hawaiien (30 ans) ne pourra ainsi pas prendre part aux deux premières étapes Prime de la prestigieuse Vans Triple Crown, à Haleiwa (12-23 novembre) puis à Sunset (24 novembre – 6 décembre), qui clôture chaque année la saison sur le North Shore d’Oahu. Jamie O’Brien doit également faire une croix sur le troisième joyau de la Triple Couronne hawaiienne – et dixième et dernière levée du World Tour 2013 –, le Billabong Pipe Masters pour lequel il avait décroché une wild card en février dernier au Volcom Pipe Pro. Spécialiste du North Shore, JOB s’était imposé en 2004 au Rip Curl Pipeline Masters.
La sanction infligée à Ricardo dos Santos n’a pas encore été dévoilée.

Lui qui crache sans arrêt sur l’ASP, une telle sanction ne devrait pas l’émouvoir plus que ça…pourtant depuis qu’elle est tombée, il ne cesse de pleurnicher. Faudrait qu’il aille au bout de son raisonnement: je suis contre l’ASP, je ne participe pas aux épreuves (pourtant il participe à toutes les étapes Hawaïennes, cherchez l’erreur). Un peu de cohérence ne lui ferait pas de mal!!
